Here's a teaser for everyone who wanted a Tomahawk but couldn't get one...
DIAL-UP WARNING: Images are around 2MB or so, with the video weighing in at around 14MB. I will post lo-res versions in a bit in a subfolder.

These designs are NOT final, and will be changed, but the core design is there. Prototypes are being sent out to beta testers tomorrow hopefully, and once the feedback is evaluated, I'll make my final design changes.
HOWEVER, initial testing has been overwhelmingly succesful! I will also note that this was not a blind experiment but some work went into measuring spring tensions using some milled lexan and a calliper. These calculations have not yet been worked into the design, but if I find they will make the tool perform better, appropriate changes will be made. Once everything is finalized, I will have a complete write-up available of my adventure.
If anyone has questions, I'll try to field them as best as I can.

I honestly don't think it will make much of a difference, but it will be incorperated into the final design, don't worry.

Is the end glassed? if so i think it will shatter after a while and may be too heavy.

Glassed? I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. The striking surface is made of a high-density plastic, and I do NOT envision the striking block shattering. If you manage to shatter the striking block, you've done far worse things to the lock.
The prototype currently weighs in at about 45g, including handle.

Ah, I see it now, Shrub. Perhaps you are referring to the shiny surface? That's just how the block was milled, a few sides turn out shiny, and a few not.
Sorry for the mixup.

I meant is the block fibre glassed.
From your answer and the fact your machineing it (not that you cant machine fibreglass) i imagine its a resin or somthing.
It just looked like fibres in the material.

Ah, I see. I had never heard it referred to as just "glassed" before, but no, it is certainly not fiberglass.
