Hi, im new to lock picking and ive been looking for a good starter set and i used this site and came to this set http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-MPXS-08.html . I have tried to pick locks with things lying aroudn the house and decided to look for where to buy and i found that store. To pick a doorknob lock (or a kwikset i think) would you use a hook pick or a half diamond or a rake?

It depends on what you are more comfortable with. You can use the rake to set a few pins, then pick pin by pin with the hook. You can pick it pin by pin with the hook, or you can rake it open. I'm not sure bout this because I've never had any luck with the half diamond but you could probably use that one too.

No... a half diamond works exceptionally well as a half diamond, but I find for a hook, I prefer to use a.... hook. :D

They are different. They both have their moments. I like hooks.

Cheers!
