Fighter Locks

I just went to a surplus tool store, and I found these mortise locks for 7$, so I went and bought 3 of them. I get home, tried for 30 minutes, and I can't even set one pin !! The wards are placed in a certain way so that the tension wrench will not stay when applying tension. Here's a picture of the lock:

Well i dont see why a right sized wrench shouldnt fit in the bottom but if your struggleing tension on the top of the keyway or use a double wrench

Correct me if im wrong but that is nothing more than a Schlage SC1 keyway. Tension should be no problem. How long is your wrench? Width?

Try picking it counter clockwise. I find the wrench sits much nicer in that keyway (at the bottom). Should do the trick. And, yes, I believe that is a Schlage keyway.

I bumped it easily, took me 2 minutes to make the key, and 10 seconds to bump the lock lol. I have to pick it now. I'll use DB's trick this time.
