Just had a call from a local kebab shop to take a look at a problem with an outward opening external fire door . A chippy has installed a push pad latch as means of escape with a external locking unit on the outside all made by exidor (see duffells cat 3.4) The fire inspector has not passed it as it needs a more prominent handle so you can find it if the owner burns your donner and needs to escape. I am going to see the fire brigade tomorrow to ask their advice but i am sure a panic bar the width of the door should be ok? Anyone that can give me any advice will get extra chilli sauce!

i think you should be ok with the 296 bar, nice easy job as its almost a straight swap.

Push pads are only acceptable in areas which are closed off to the general public. Crash bars are always okay.

untill a building inspector measures the floor space
and tells them they need another fire exit!!!!

or how many maximum poeple will be in there at any time!
