Which side of this snake should I use?

Either side, it takes some experimenting with each lock to find out what works best for that one, its a 50/50 chance.

Depends how the pins are set, One side works better then on others.

Well, one side is a rake and the other side is a hook.

They both serve different purposes. The rake is for..... raking, and the hook is for single pin picking.

I would use the side faceing down as that is how i use my pick. I am no expert but it works well for me.

It depends on the lock, and how you are picking it. the snake is good for raking, however some locks cannot be raked. Also, I think its better practice to pick pin by pin to start out so you dont get into bad habits later.

you also could rake once or twice, and use the hook to set the rest of the pins

I made a snake like this last night and it works great. As soon as I was finished, I opened 6 padlock and two door locks that I practice on easily.
