Barrel Locks

Anyone familiar with the Brooks Utility "f series" barrel locks?

It looks more like some sort of plunger ball bearing pin capture with an extractor tool for a key than an actual lock.

Interesting.... But, I can't seem to find a legitimate reason to be messing with these if the lock and key system is sold *only* to utilities.

btw: There is a "G" series as well.

Exactly correct. However those are now obsolete here in Vegas, replaced by these..http://vegas2.net/locks/inner-tite/inner-titecorp.htm very similar but use a conventional 'Abloy style' key.

Also see this POST... I made a copy of the real key by hand filing down a car key, it works !!

That could be said of any lock- why are so many people uptight about untility companies?

Folks seem particularly sensitive to this type of device being picked. I am curious, because if it is danger, then there is plenty of info here that a kid could use to pick a gun safe lock and pull a Columbine.
If it is legality of tampering with goverment or utility company property, then plenty of info is here in the forum to pick locks on gates to power sub-stations. So, that said, before I post the secret of defeating the UCBL, let me know compelling reasons not to- like getting kicked from the site or something- 'cause thats the only real reason I have to refrain from posting what I consider relevant lockpicking info.

Here's the deal. Do not pick locks you do not own. We all have an image to uphold when we partake in this hobby and that image is one of honesty and integrity. I cannot control what you do on your own time. I can however ask that you do not post on topics such as this.
