I'm just wondering..
I've had this with all the locks I've been trying to pick..

It happens a lot that I can move a pin, but not all the way down into it's chamber.. why is that?
I can understand if the pin is completely stuck, that happens when I put to much force on the tension tool or if I pick a pin that shouln't be picked yet.. But if a pin moves down, but just not 'all the way' down, what's the issue then?

Does it push up a little and then no further and the lock feels like it has a bit more give in it? Mushroom pins and other security pins allow you to push up a little and then will get stuck on the ridge.

So you have no torque at all and you push up and have problems or you are applying torque? If you are not appling torque and you can not push the pin up try moving the pick so it is smack bang in the centre of the bottom of the pin so it moves up straight and not at an angle. Otherwise you may have a lock that is a little worn (is it new or old?) and if this is the case you can try lubing it.

Have you tried to take the lock appart to see what pins it has? What sort of lock is it?

It doesn't feel like it gives at all..
I can just simply push down the pin until a certain spot, and after that it just won't go deeper into the chamber. If I remove the pick but keep the tension the pin just gets pushed up again by the spring, so it's not stuck or set or anything like that
They aren't mushroom pins or spool pins..
It's with really cheap padlocks I bought just for practice..
Different brands though, a few ABUS and a few Tri-Circles (tri-circles suck to open )

It's a brand new abus padlock, an older abus padlock and 3 new tri-circle padlocks

About the taking them appart: If you can tell me how, I'll be glad to, but I haven't found a way to 'normally' open them..

I'm a newbie with lockpicking, and it's probably something that has been mentioned somewhere but I just don't recognize it or anything..
maybe it's because of too much torque or anything, I don't know (that's why I ask )

But, if I release the torque bit by bit all of the sudden I can push the pin a lot further but most of the time all the other pins pop back at that moment....
I did pick the abus locks.
It's probably got something to do with the order I pick the pins in.. cause I don't allways run into this problem..

Start by using half as much torque as you think you need. Also, be aware that you cannot push a pin stack *completely* into a chamber on a properly designed/pinned lock. My advice is to read the MIT guide a few more times, grab a deadbolt you can rip apart, and spend some quality "parts time".
