if you wanted to ruin the safe, that door would be easy to rip off.

If you want to keep it get a locksmith and he'll make you some new keys.. or pick the lock open, take the lock out, insert a keyblank into the plug with the wafers in and cut your own key.

My dad was hiding the keys because I am not that nice to my mom and he said that if I couldn't be nice to my mom, that I don't get to have my prized possessions.

I know! Sadly I haven't been able to do it yet. I do love my mom, but its hard because moms always act in a certain way.... I can't argue with that becaue moms are always going to be moms.

I'm not trying to be nicer. I'm going to do it...

aye, sometimes it just takes time... good luck being nice to her :)

now with this problem being solved you're left with how to open that safe of yours... if you want to spend some time doing it pick the lock open, and cut yourself some new keys using some files or a dremmel tool... buy a few keyblanks so you have plenty to practice on :)

if not just call a locksmith... it's bound to be cheaper than replacing the safe... you will get new keys out of it as well

it's your choice mate.

How easy is it to make my own key? Is there somewhere I could read to do this the easiest way? I am basically new. I only picked a lock that was only the tumbuler part of the lock.

Thanks

hmm... well if you can buy keyblanks for your lock, and you have either some needle-files or a dremmel...

pick the lock, and take it off.. then read my guide in the "locks" section to take it apart... this shouldn't take too long providing it is a single wafer.

take the 'plug' out of the lock housing and insert your keyblank... the wafers inside will move a bit... the idea is to make all the wafers flush with the plug... so however much the wafers stick out of the plug you cut off that part of the keyblank... if it sticks out about 0.5 centimetres then cut that depth downwards... just go slowly until they are all at the right height... when this is done insert it back into the lock housing and pull out as normal.

i don't know if you will be able to get hold of these keyblanks easily though... maybe you might be able to make your own keyblank out of a piece of hacksaw blade or brickstrap... if the wards aren't nasty it will be okay. If you do this make sure you sand it so it is smooth

see if you have the tools, and if you can get some keyblanks... I'd give it a go myself to be honest... if not call a locksmith :)

You could also impression it right from the get-go if you wanted to teach yourself how to do that; I can't imagine a double-bitted wafer being too hard.
