flashing lights

Postby horsefeathers » 23 Jan 2006 9:02

A slightly tongue in cheek question but you never know......

The other day I noticed a van parked near me, and marked up as some guy's paving and floor laying service. What struck me was that he had an amber flashing light on the van. An emergency paving slab layer!!!!

Any locksmiths have a flashing amber light on their van? Are we allowed? Or is it just too pretencious??

regards

I think an amber light is simply used as a warning to other road users....

But hey anything to get me through the rush hour quicker!

Saw a similar thing myself a couple of months ago. I was waiting at a junction near a congested roundabout, when I heard someone beeping their horn. Not that unusual at first, but the cars waiting at the roundabout started getting out of the way.

As I kept watching, a white transit came past with an amber light flashing on the top and a fella visibly pressing the horn in a rhythm.

Cheeky as you like, but surprisingly successful.

You can have a flashing light if you want - not blue though.

Sirens however are illegal.

these are used for slow moving vehicles, or obstruction,, like tow trucks, motorway maintanence, we could technically have them as locksmiths if we were in the auto side.....

Has you say any one can have amber lights fitted they act as hazzard lights but belive me not many people take any notice of them.
We move heavy abnormal loads around the country and until recently to police escorted these but now you have to provide you own escorts.
you can have loads of flashing amber lights and the van full of hazzard stickers and 90% of road user's still look at you blank(carn't beat a couple of police bikes with the lights going they used to make the traffic move out of the way)
lock picking! i luv it
