Will finally b ordering a pick set soon but the other day i was realy bored so i decided to see what i could do with a paper clip. Well I bent it kinda randomly rly, shoved it into the average 5 pin padlock and after about a minute and a half of crazy wiggling it popped open! I was quite surprised, and chuffed, and then though well, twas luck.
Anyway, not that thats particularly interesting but i just though id share that little bit of information with y'all
(Its probably not even worth a seperate topic post but its bn a while since i been on here)

I know how to do it in less than five seconds with several (cheap) padlocks, because that's the first thing I learned - long before I even knew the first thing about how a lock works.
This is really a bypass tool. What you do is you reach after the pins, and you move the mechanism that is normally moved by the cylinder for opening the padlock.
you can either try this :
_______________________/
or an alpha shape,
Both of which you make by bending paper clips.
The trick is to have it go as far you you can while wiggling. When you feel some elasticity, turn and turn and turn.
It won't work with more expensive padlocks, because they have a metallic barrier between the cylinder end and the opening mechanism.
BTW if somebody knew how to take padlocks apart, it would help understanding those things further. Please PM me or start a thread.

Congrats, let us know when you get the picks. Keep on trying until you know it was not luck, think about what the pick is doing as it is moving the parts of the lock around. Well done and thanks for the post.
