I don't think this was asked before:
I have ruined many many many of my blades due to small cracks on them. Actually I do not know if they are cracks... some scratches, lines along the blade that can not be removed using grit papers. They appear as soon as I remove the dye from the blades, so I'm sure they are manufacturing defects.
Does anyone have a similiar problem? Will these scratches decrease the strength and durability of the picks? Will tempering remove these scratches?
Please help me, I can't find any carbon-steel blades that do not have these scratches! (only high speed steel or bi-metal blades do not have them)
