There are basic techniques though. Try turning the bolt the "wrong way" to see if it's easier to pick. This is why the plug spinner (or "flipper") tool exists, to plug in the correct direction once picked.
If you're hung up, there may be a security pin in the lock. Take the lock apart and examine it. Or, try picking the lock while looking at its key, so you know exactly where each pin sets.
