tubular pick angles

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

can someone measure the angles that the slots for the "picks" are at on a tubular pick for me, both a 7 and 8 pin pick if possible.

You might get better info if you can find the patents for various tubular locks. I'd try searching the patent office for ACE or ACE II type locks.

I don't currently have a calliper, or I'd give you the measurements myself. Good luck. :-)

Should be 45° for a 7 pin lock. 7 pins +1 = 8

360/8 = 45°
360/9 = 40°

In another forum I just suggested using a tubular key for making a pick. It already has all the measurements you need, just saw off the handle and prolonge the key cuts across the remaining tube. Insert 7 feelers and fit it into a 2nd tube.

Rough description, but I hope you got the idea.

I love you for wanting to make such a sweet tool.
Be a good boy and make a guide on it, even though there are some around.

I posted some measurements somewhere in the got questions forum about a month or two ago. Do a search for me (i think I found it on Jan 3rd, but don't know how to link it here)

As far as the angles, all of the tubulars are at 45. the 7's are really divided into 8ths with one blank where the slot is. The 8's are also divided into 8ths, but the slot is at a wierd angle compared to the pins.
