Oh. I found it. Sorry. I posted my introduction in the General Chatter forum. I wasn't sure where to post at the time.

Anyway, my name is Nick. I've been watching and learning here for a while. I am an lock-pick hobbyist.

I have a small collection of locks. There is something very gratifying, and addictive to picking locks. Maybe it's just my personality.

I enjoy picking the locks on my own. To me, that's the fun of it. I guess I may ask if I get down-right stuck on one.

Anyway, just saying hi.

Oh! I noticed that the combination, electronic and safe forum is not open to newbies. As it should be, I guess.
But I've been toying around locks for a little while, and have moved on to low-grade safes. And I have found some interesting techniques. Don't know if they're new or not.
But I'm not sure where to post them. Is it just a post-count that grants access to these forums?

I just have a few ideas, mainly concerning combo safes, and electronic home security systems. And a few questions that I'd like to present, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate to discuss them in an open forum. As I'm sure you get all kinds of would-be punks in here trying to figure out a quick way to make a buck.

Hey all, have made a feq posts regarding some Schlage locks, but didn't catch ths introductory thread right away. I'm WizzBang, have been online and into pc's since 1993, very familiar with forums, sites, programming etc. current main hobby's are bodybuilding and lock picking getting pretty handy with the picks already. I don't have a lot of experience, and can't at this point contribute lots of knowledge about lock picking, but will try my best to assist in any way im able to. Thanks for the great forum here, and providing a nice place for newbies like me to start

I guess I fit the stereotypes most people have about lockpicking enthusiasts (and/or wannabes), so I'll try to keep this brief. I'm a computer geek in his early twenties who's always been fascinated with locks and information security as an extension to the puzzles and mazes I loved as a child. I have pretty dextrous hands, and tend to pick things up pretty quickly, so by the age of thirteen I was able to open the (simple, probably 3-pin) cash register in my aunt's store with a nailfile and a paperclip.

Long story short, I've had many long hours of standing behind a locked jewelry case waiting for customers, and more than a few dorm room lockouts caused by forgetful roommates, with which to practice, so it's about time I moved from the few internet howto's I've seen to more solid, thorough information.

Hello all lockpicking newbie here. Want to thank you all for the info I have read so far, and that you continue to pass on.

My interest in this subject came many years ago when an uncle visited who was a locksmith. He showed me his picks, pickgun, and how to dissasemble and change the key for a standard house lock. Off and on over the years Ive attempted to pick various locks without any real info to go on. Only ones I can say Ive had success with are some cheapy handcuffs (not a real lock), suitcase padlocks (again not a real lock), and file cabinet locks.

The file cabinet/ desk locks, I have had success with using a simple nailfile on fingernail clippers using a rocking motion and mild pressure. Eventually I made a similar shaped device out of a hacksaw blade. After reading about how many homemade picks were made out of these I figured Id found a home for my interest in this subject.

Hope to learn lots and share anything I might come up with.

Im Jace from mansfield nottingham in the uk,
Last year a attended a 12hr one day introducton course to locksmithing,
ive alway been drawn to it for some reason.
Im looking to attened a full course with a view to undertaking a full life and carrer change.
btw please excuse my grammar at times as im dyslexic.
ill have a good read around the board before,i post anything dumb lol.
