Raking only works if the pins are almost same size if one pin is very big and the other is very small raking is then useless. Pin picking is the best direction for you Just apply light tension at first and if you find out your not getting anywere Increase the tension a tiny bit. I have no idea what it has but just Light tension then go up if you get no were.

 good luck :!:

if this is your first lock, i would put it down for awhile, becasue abus locks can be quite difficult.

Wow, you are actually starting to impress me!

Though the information about raking not working on high-low combinations is not true, it works very well.

Half the time, all you have to do is insert a snake rake and move it up a fraction and it's open. High/low combos react well with a heavily curved snake rake.

I've got two ABUS padlocks: 65/30 and 62/40 Buffo. I think the Buffo does have mushroom shaped pins.
Maybe I got lucky with these two, but they are real easy to rake. Another technique I use for these locks is to put a diamond in as far as possible and then jiggle the tension tool back and forth. There is a name for this technique accroding to the book "Easy pickings" but I can't remember what it was. But anyway, my ABUS's respond very well to this technique.

I have almost the same lock (abus 65/30) and it is also my first lock...
I can tell you that it has mushroom pins and the cylinder is rather tough to turn (hard to feel if it is picked).
My only tools at this time is a half dimond and a tension tool. I had best result with raking (ish) and then picking the pins that are still stuck. I used WERY light tension.
My advice is to get a normal cylinder where you can take all pins but one out and make it harder and harder to pick. It took me a month to master this lock.

Happy picking!

I have an ABUS 65/40 and it took me a while to pick at first because it was brand new i think. I have realised that you only need very light pressure on the tension wrench to open this lock or it will bind. I used a snake at first and then moved on to a half diamond pick.
