Does anyone know what this lock is?

Postby Billthe4th » 29 Oct 2005 17:29

Hi guys, great site, thanks very much.

I've searched and searched but I can't find anything like this lock anywhere (i found it lying around in my dad's shed). I think the closest thing I've seen is an abloy lock, but it's not exactly the same.

Apologies for the poor photos, my cheap digital camera refuses to focus on what I point it at

It has no brand name or anything on it at all, but it seems quite sturdy. You can't see it on the photo but the cylinder is made up of lots of discs, kinda like the abloy locks.

Does anyone know what it could be? or even better - how to pick it?

Any help much appreciated,

Bill.

I know it uses the same principle as an Abloy, but the keyway and key bitting are similar to the Abus Granit (basically the same thing as Abloy, too)
You probably won't be able to pick it, go for something easier. You will not find instructions to pick this lock in the open forums, because it is often used in a high security application.

The same principle as an Abloy, but it looks as though it has 7 disks. I dont think it has any false cuts, but if you took it apart you would probably have a good idea on how to pick it.

Take a look at that topic. It will give you basic ideas on picking this disk lock.

It's a slightly smaller knockoff of the Abus Plus cylinder, which is what is used in the Granite series.

Thanks for the replies, seems like this is a tough little lock!

I'll try to get it apart in the next few days and post up some pics of it's guts.

Bill.

EDIT: just realised I have no idea how to get it apart, any tips?

Disc mechanism.

Used in many locks - Silverline, Abus 88/50, and Blackspur being three I have.
