really old cash register lock... what is this?

really old cash register lock... what is this?

a friend of mine has this really old cash register. they apparantly lost the key a long time ago and have no idea whats in it. pictures:

what kind of lock is this, and how do i pick it?

As the picturea are so bad, try explaining what you can see when you look into the lock. (e.g. can you see any pins, wafers, nothing, etc). The more information, the better. More likely that we can help.

pizarro is right, try to explain it better. For what I can see it seems to be a double pin tumbler lock, but I'm not shure. We got some double pin ones that look something like it here in Europe.

I suggest a double sided lever lock. I have an old cashbox with a similar lock on it.

from what I see, of the keyway, it appears to be a flat steel split lever lock that is probably relying on warding to make picking difficult. look in the antique locks sites on google for a type of hinged shackle padlock that has this type of keyway, it will be in a bunch of old iron riveted padlocks with hinged shackle. try Oldlocks.com or something like that.
