ARROW EURO??

OK this was wierd, ive never before seen an ARROW branded euro style lock before, except is both was and wasn't a euro. The lock I think was part of a master key system for a housing association, and would have been a master key to remove a core, and replace the lock without taking the lock body out of the door, interesting. The lock body was a traditional euro size but both other sides of the 'ARROW' was the very american figure eight profile, anyone seen this before?

Easy to pick, it must have been mastered to death!

Also what brand of sash jammer do you think is the best? I always use fab n fix!! Although have also used 'sash blockers' ugh... and the chubb sash jammer seems pretty neat, only for windows though, fire safety too.

i stopped using these some time ago for securing a upvc doors overnight, instead i made a couple of overnight locks out of a few strips.
i cut off the hooks and rollers from the strips, leaving just bolt and latch and mech, in cutting the strip just above and just below last fixing screw hole above and below mech, maintained the full mech but loses the hooks and rollers.
i then pop this in the door, secure it on the 2 screws, fit a euro, customer now has a secure and useable door , until i return with their new strip.

spooky i placed the same thread yesterday i had a BEST lock and the core needs repalcing. I am waiting for the special key that removes the core. As a matter of interstest my job was for a large housing association and was wondering the name of your assoc ?? PM me with details cheers

hi we do alot of upvc work and a couple of times we have had to use sash jammers to secure the door but ive never been to sure about the strengh
of these bits of kit but we just do as asked by the boss
we have seen the over night lock b4 but never got around to get one but a great idea by pinky i will have to see if i can get my hands on an old upvc mech

pinky what is the back set of ur mech?? is the most common 35mm?

haribo: I never got the name of the housing association, I just snapped the cylinder off to get the thing off, that was a job and a half, the lock just fell into a million pieces once I did that, but still got it off! It was a domestic for the police so I said to the owner to get in touch with the housing association to replace the lock to their system, I had no time for messing. Funny thing is that the cylinder prob cost a lot and I destroyed it !!

pinky: thats all very well for problems with hooks and rollers, but what if it is the lock casing that has the problem, and you don't have any 'overnight' locks? I had two mila lock cases, the same ones, one had a spring that had collapsed, and the other the spindle cam had sheared off, had to take the door off the hinges for that one. Good thing is that both were willing to wait while i got the part from my supplier. Plus the idea of sash jammers is ace agains't cylinder snapping and sneak ins, i don't usually approve of the overnight idea for them considering the screws lie in the line of door opening, much like a surface mounted deadbolt.

A uvpc supplier here has put together a kit which he says will cater for every eventuality. £220 for the whole kit which has many bits in.Ill do a full review once ive got one.

So what happens when you get a mila lock case which is riveted together?? Thats my situation??

You need a new one! This kit will have a body to replace the Mila and from what i can tell ,extensions ,hooks ,deadeadbolts etc. As i said ill buy one and give a run down once ive had a look.
