southard mentions a brass handle for the 17 piece pick set. any comments about the handle, good, bad, no difference, etc.

Blackwave seemed to like it.

I used to put great use to the brass handle. After a while, switching picks in and out became cumbersome and time-consuming, so I eventually ended up wrapping the half-diamond and rake (only picks I really use) with tape to create handles.
And the brass handle was put away, never to be seen again.
Until I copied my old car key into a lockpick. Oddly enough, I've been able to 'jiggle' several doors open using a piece of steel shaped to my old carkey cut. The brass handle works great as its original use: a handle.
Since I don't work with cars much, the pick stays in it. The 17 piece set was discarded except for select picks, only to go into a my personal set.

Never underestimate the half-diamond.

i don't like the brass handle, way too heavy and tired to change the pick.
especially after i got the peterson's rubber handle picks...i never use it anymore.

thanks for all the info. i'm sure i'd be cumbersome after a while to change the pick in and out, but i wonder if southord would consider selling the brass handle individually? that'd be nice.

I doubt it -- I couldn't get them to sell my Europicks individually yet. But if it works for you, let me know. I don't think I'd like the brass handle, but I'd like to give one a try.

instead of getting a psx set, look for mpsx. they come with slightly thicker handles, so the brass thing isn't needed...
