Hello all!
This is my first post on the forum, however, I've been lurking in the background for some time now.
I have always had an interest in locksmithing, but I've recently had the opportunity to explore the trade. I am 17, a current high school studnet (grade 12) and I am enrolled in a co-op program. Basically, for 3 hours in the afternoon, I leave school to go work in a locksmith shop. I started working last week and I've learned quite a bit already, what a great bunch of guys!
I already had my own set of picks from a little while ago, but after reading several threads on making your own, I decided to give it a go, so off I went with a hacksaw blade. I do not have a grinder, but I do have a belt and disk sander, I used this to grind/sand down the blade and it worked suprisingle well. I had this pick done within about 10-15 minutes. After all the grinding, I was excited to try and pick the 5-pin cylinder I have (I've previously picked it with the rake and small hook), and voila, it worked! I was pretty impressed, with 10 minutes of work, I opened up the cylinder.

I can only imagine I'll be making several others now that I've seen I can do it. Let me know what you think.
