Finding a Kwikset Cylinder Online?

Postby Dave568 » 2 Mar 2006 16:48

I was just wondering if anyone could point me to a Kwikset cylinder that I could buy online that I would be able to take apart and re-pin. I am looking for a lock that will work like in DB's tutorial, so I can add 1 pin at a time and work my way up. I don't want to go out and spend money on a lock and later find that I can't disassemble it, so I was hoping someone could show me what I should buy. Thanks.

Well pretty much any cylinder should be easy to dismantle, i think Varjeal sells some if you have a look around you should find various links etc for there and other places i think.

Other than that go to your local walmart or whatever, the bog standard cylinders are what your after, dont bother with the key in knob ones as your paying for all the furniture as well which you wont use/need.

Yup

Yup. I learned on deadbolts. There should be a screw on the back to take out the cylinder. There's a tutorial on here which tells how to re-pin.
