Okay, just so I have it straight. When I lock it back, I insert the tension wrench and apply pressure in the locking direction BEFORE I insert the racking wrench? It's the exact opposite of unlocking?

simply take a hacksaw blade gring it down to resemmble the below image and give it a jiggle, always works for me.
