No direct comparisons but a lock like a bird cylinder is the cheap and cheerful kind youll crack in no time then the better ones are the Yale and ERA standard cylinders then somthing like a yale 6 pin then a yale X5 which is 6 pin 4 of those being spool pins.

Look for a cheap 5 pin Yale to start with

Any half decent place that sells locks to be honest, B+Q have them i think and local lockies certainly should do, i stock around 10 at any one time so you should get one near you from somewhere other than that you will be able to get them off the net and maybe even ebay.

To just clarify they are not a beginers lock but if you fancy a bit of a challenge its a good one to get for the price, they usually have 4 spools and 2 normal pins.

Shrub B&Q do sell them in various packages, ranging from X5 with 2 keys, X5 with 5 keys to X5 with the handle plates etc. Price ranges from approx £15 to £45 depending on the 'flavour' of the X5

Guess what I spent my Xmas money on. :D

On average few minutes on the door as i hand pick everything, an electric pick would take less than a minute everytime where as i may take a little longer or a bit shorter than a few minutes but i must have spent a month of picking any one of a plie i bought every night until i could pick them happily, i somtimes find one that takes 10 mins but not often.

Not as good as Shrub. First time I picked an X5 took me about 20 mins. I am now around 10 - 15 mins for the same lock. Although I bought a high/ low pinned cylinder. But have to admit I have not picked a lock for 2 months due to other commitments.

You need help.
Lock picking stands above all things mundane.

Let's just hope that your other commitments will give way for lockpicking soon.

Other commitments since Xmas.......

Loft conversion.
Decorating 2 bedrooms at the same time (1 almost finished).
Learning European Martial Arts (with Longsword, shield and Two Handed Sword Techniques)

Work chaos (so not much time to pick in break times)

So I have a good excuse. Lockpicking due to start (hopefully in a few weeks when I get a little time to myself in the evenings :D )

But I try to get back to LP101 every 2-3 days!
