The first one is correct, assuming the lock turns to the left to open.

dont count me on this but my personal opinion is that they're all wrong, u want to be comfortable using the tension wrench, but you also want good controll over the amount of tension you put on the plug, (i use my index finger), the 3rd picture is prob the closest one just move your fumb up more to the end.
p.s i may be wrong i have only been picking for about 7 months so dont count me on it, its just my personal opinion

If you are picking it, personally I would put the wrench in at the pin end (but not so as to touch the first pin) - and use a hook rather than half diamond.
If raking then first of the pics shows very roughly what i do...but basically i would hold the padlock so that the pins are towards my body, and located the correct size wrench in the top at say 11 or 1 oclock depending on where it 'locks' in best and scrub away.
just shows how there isn't one rule that solves all....
regards

I agree that it does not look like a comfortable position. But as far as the tension wrench being in the keyhole the correct way number one is best. If this was a lock in a door you would not be able to use the tension wrench the same as if you were holding the lock in your hand.
As long as the tension wrench binds in the keyhole, going the correct way, with access to the pins it would be possible to open the lock.

The proper way is any way that works.
How I do it:
Hold the padlock with the top of the keyway facing in to the v between your thumb and your index finger. To tension CW, use your index finger, CCW, use your thumb. In the first picture, the tension wrench is in the keyway properly for CW rotation, and you would flip it to do CCW.

Hmm, do you mean that I have a wrong sized wrench?

No your wrench looks fine, just put it in the keyway and turn it in the directio your wanting the plug to turn, if it slips reposition it so it doesnt, if it jams against the body of the lock and scrapes on it when tnsioning then reposition it so it doesnt,
On size, if you have it obstructing the pins or if its too big for you to get your pick in the lock properly or under the pins properly you can do one of two things, one you move the wrench to the top of the keyway and making sure you dont rest it on the first pin you tension that way, a shorter leg on the tool makes this easier, and two you can opt for a smaler wrench and try tensioning at the bottom of the keyway again.

Yep the first one is right. Just push the wrench down and it should work with some practice. (im sure this has been answered already)

Hmm, It´s a SANGlock 50mm and I do as you say and gets four or five pins to set, but then I can´t go any further?
Does anyone know what it can be? I thought that if it is just a pin who holds it locket, it would only be to put it up with a hook or halfdiamond..?
Maybe that´s wrong.. MAybe the pins can be false and block the other pins? Yepp yepp, feels like I got to buy a lock that I can see throught, I just can´t figureout what happens inside that lock..

Hmm, I don´t think that, I didn´t find any old topics about how to use the wrench, I maybe cant use the searchengine..

Maybe look for "tension" tool instead of "wrench".
Cheers, mh
