right well I'm in the process of aranging the first UK competition.
Just need to know a few things,
When is the UK's school summer holidays? Im going to try and arange the date between these holidays as I know most pickers are still in school so the holidays would be better for people to arange to get to the comp.
Next question is, how many UK pickers would be able to make it to the competition within the holiday times?
hope I get a good response to this post

well yeah a swim would take it out of you, I think walking will be better.
I wonder when people from Europe are going to answer.
I myself voted yes as I started this thread.

Keymaker, Buy all the other competetors a few pints, it can only work to your advantage. Try picking a few locks after even a bit to drink.

Thats allright as Im 18 and Im making the enviroment for every one.
You will be glad to hear that there will be free, yes thats FREE alcohol supplied by me untill it runs out for those who are over 18 (I'll be hopfully suppying about 60 cans and 40 bottles any thing more than that people can fetch themselfs).
But key maker it would be good if you came along, I get to put a face to the name then. You will get a lot of mature conversation from me and I'd probably say most of the younger ones from this site would probably make good conversation as if there picking locks they may be of higher intelligence and quite mature.
What kind of entertainment comes to mind with people? ill think about putting into action at the competition. all ideas are good ideas so ill think about them all.
Key maker I hope this makes it better for you as I want this competition to be what everyone wants, with everyones ideas being considered.

Have you thought of a place to hold it yet?
Only saying that because it might be an idea to hold it outside of a large city so accommodation etc is much cheaper.

I'ts a good idea as i am new to all this and meeting people and talking face 2 face would be a great help to my new found interest! BUT...im 31 and it don't look good me turnin up to a teeny gathering..Me having real stubble and all that!(only joking). Sorry but you killed it by mentioning "SCHOOL HOLIDAYS". Who knows the older lot might read my reply and some sort of mixed gathering could be worked out..Maybe..Lets see.

What kind of locks are you thinking of having? I know the UK is filled with Lever Locks, but us folks in the US are kind of left in the dark as towards acquiring tools and knowledge of these things. (well, at least I am.)
Tubular Cylinders, Pin-tumblers, wafers....I think everything should be picked. More knowledge, you know?

If I can get to where it's going to be held I should be able to donate the prizes for the winners.
