What kind of lock is this?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

What kind of lock is this?

Postby Red » 13 Mar 2006 12:56

Hey guys,
I have an inquiry from a customer that wants to know two things:

1- What kind of lock is this?
http://www.esdcoin.com/images/Servic8.gif

2 - can standard picks be used to compromise it?

To me it looks kind of like a small tubular but I am not quite sure.

Could one of our experts help me out here?

Thanks!!

Abloy style, that's what it looks like.
You won't be able to pick that with regular picks, need special tools for that.
Expensive.

Thanks Jordy,
I'll let him know.
What kind of tools would I advise this guy to look for? They are not tools that we carry on the website. I like to try to help people out whenever possible whether they are spending their money with us or someone else.
A lead would be much appreciated.

Thanks again

The picking of locks that work in that princible are for the advanced section, it is an abloy copy, used on some vending or fruit machines and can not be picked with readily available commercial tools, you need to make a decoder to open the lock but its not open to discussion on the public threads.

Try to only post one thread on the same subject

I vote for a lock on both threads.

Well you cant as you wont be a member, these locks are on vending machines and fruit maches as well as other uses so will onmly be discussed on that part, the advanced stuff on site is meant to stay there not be repeated and thats one of the rules of getting in there to begin with so sorry your not going to get your answer,

You are not allowed links in your sig line either, if that .org site is yours be careful what you copy over from here to there, i havent looked properly but at first look some stuff on here is repeated word for word on your site.

I think the fact that this is an advanced topic has been covered so I am locking this thread for now.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

1. As mentioned, it's an abloy style lock.
2. Standard tools unmodified will not be able to manipulate the lock.
3. To everyone else...red is a she, not a he.

The lock in the picture appears to be a cam lock. and in specific, a rotating disc lock.
*insert witty comment here*
