Q about Master locks..

Q about Master locks..

Postby WDPaladin » 17 Mar 2006 16:57

I keep seeing people posting about "Master No. X" with X being a number. I know these are all the padlock style locks, and after checking out Master's website I noticed that the different numbers are basically just body size differences with the occasional extra pin. Are there any reasons why this information is specific to certain 'number' models? Please let me know, I feel kinda in the dark on this one, thanks.

The way I take it..

When I see someone refer to a "Master X", I take it that they are talking about "all" the master lock styles. I assume that they are not talking about a specific one. If I am wrong, I feel that I will be corrected and hope to be.

All good. What I meant is that I see people posting about a Master No. 5, or a Master No. 3. I have not seen someone post on a "Master No. X," I was only using that as an example where the X is replaced my real numbers in the actual post. I'm just curious when people post about the specific ones; all I know is that the numbers refer primarily to the body size. Anyway, thanks again in advance for any help on this.

People probably just want to identify what they have. Many new pickers beleive that there are differences between say a master 1 or 3, so they ID the lock. Its also easier to talk about your #3 than the 4 pin laminated master padlock.
