Which europrofile cylinder

European hardware -lever locks, profile cylinders specific for European locks. European lock picks and European locks.

Which europrofile cylinder

Postby johnoboy » 17 Mar 2006 10:00

Newbie here, i have a general question on euro profile cylinders.

Which make/type would one recommend for domestic security (something more challenging to crack!!)

Thanks in advance

Mul-T-Lock, well priced and not a simple pick.
Get one of the new ones.

Other than that any non bumpable un-snapable one would be ok.

Make sure its fitted flush with the handles and not sticking out in any way.

Hi,

I would consider the Chubb M3 cylinder (Biaxial lock rebranded Medeco) http://www.safelocks.co.uk/acatalog/Eur ... ers__.html or EVVA 3KS cylinder although this is very expensive.

Mult-i-Lok supposed to be good but I am told you can bump it but getting hold of a key blank would be difficult.

Abloy Cylinder or some of the DOM Cylinders are excellent but you are paying big money for those.

Cheers

We do have 2 EVVA 3KS locks, they are good quality and I have yet to hear about someone who picked one successfully. However, they are said to be drilled open pretty easily, never mind the drill protection. If your concern is picking only, you're fine. If you are afraid of cylinder cracking/pulling or someone using the rotary pick you might consider an additional Geminy security coverplate. I would especially consider this if your keyway is exposed to the elements, because with he EVVA 3KS there is a pretty huge keyway that could collect quite some dirt.

Take a look at the Geminy here, I am sure you can even find better prices on it.
