Pick Wrap

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Pick Wrap

Postby chrisjc33 » 22 Mar 2006 19:09

As a lockie when I go to a lockout I always use my pickgun so a few days ago I got back into pin picking because this is a skill I don’t want to lose, and after a day of picking my index finger was throbbing because of the Majestic picks which have quite sharp handles.
So I decided to do something about this
Image
pic 1.first I super glued the string along the pick.

Image
pic 2.then I started to wrap the string from the pick end to the other end.

Image
pic 3.when I finished the wrap I cut it off and glued it and taped the end.

Image
pic 4.a coat of PVA wood glue which holds it all together and will dry clear.

Image
pic 5.finish off by dipping the end in epoxy resin.
they feel a lot better and when there in my toolbox I can now see them

goood idea!

first thought that came to my mind after seeing this would be to use military paracord. the innards can be taken out to make it lay flat.

cheers

Hey,

Thanks for the great idea... I'll have to try this out once I get a dremel and can start trying to make picks out of hacksaw blades instead of by hand.

Nice. I hit on this subject in http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=12178 but nobody got back to me. Try using leather wrapping cord yet? I imagine it would feel great, better than the cord you got there (props for that though, no doubt). Still, has anyone tried leather wrap yet??

Don't they make rubber "shoes" for them that slide onto the handle?

If they do, can someone give me a link?
