Panic over I'm skiing begining of March. Must admit not been to one of these event's before so don't really know the form, I have a set of majestic picks for pin tumbler locks, but never really got into Mortice locks and don't have any curtain picks etc. Are "Loan" picks available to "have a go"? I would understand if they're not as the last idiot I let try my picks snapped one within about 10 seconds! :(

Cheers
Martin.

thats good news. The picking day is firming up nicely.

As a recap, it is an open day in the workshop on the 25th March in Guildford. Its open to all, beginners, experts and those just curious about picking locks or getting into the industry.

We will kick off around 10am and then spend until the early hours of the following morning picking locks, broken up by a few spells in the pub next door and random firings of the BBQ for food.

Based on the 3 or 4 we have already done, it will be a good opportunity to exchange ideas and thoughts and I don't think anybody has left previously without learning something.

For those travelling, there are 2 B+Bs within walking distance....

I can think of a few projects to attack on the day but some may benefit from a run through of all the new BS locks now released - 114, securefast etc and how to get into them ....

message me if you plan to be there, as we have a food order to place with a friendly butcher ....

more later ...

Everybody shares! these days are great for beginners and '''experts!!''' alike!!

Not that I know any experts!

Its well worth a trip out to sunny guildford and everybody has the same mindset - so regardless of your skill, experience, employment etc pop along.

If your a crim, don't bother! - we'll suss you -

So its an open day really for UK lockies to get together, talk about stuff, have a play with tools and learn

We all learn from these days and lots of good things come out of it for all involved.

Beer is good, which is a good excuse to find somewhere to stay local and I'll be up all day and night picking as there are lots of shiney little locks to defeat.

I promise no one attending will be dissapointed!

So see you there!

If your planning on a long day you need

1 money - for beer
2 beer -
3 some food - to help out with the BBQ
4 ANY PICKS YOU OWN! -

This last part is very important!!

Home brew picks are very important to us lockies, some of the things people make and think are crude are the best tools out there so anything, no matter how silly I'm sure will be appreciated, measured and copied!!

See you there

This will be another day thats full of information, most ICL members will be there as well as alot of trading locksmiths, the day is free ( IT COSTS NOTHING) and with so many pickers there everyone can learn something, from how to pick a certain lock to how to make a tool to pick certain locks, and the competition on who can out drink sid is always a giggle.

this is open to all trading locksmiths not just icl members so you are all welcome, and is usualy a good day and night out, alot to pick and alot is generaly learnt by all attending, anyone interested in comming just post up here or pm wallaby for directions etc.

I'm interested, Guildford is just roung the corner from me. I take from this post that this newbie might be welcomed. How long do people usually stay, having never been to a thing like this i would apreciate some kind if idea as to what to expect, and any unwritten rules of etiquette.

Most of us stay for the day and evening it all depends on your own circumstances. It will mainly be ICL members meeting up,trading ideas and lots of lock picking. Rules are simple so pm wallaby for more info and no criminals (they do check up). Rule no 1 stay away from pinkys wife.... rule no 2 leave sids guiness alone, rule no 3 dont put anymore locks on doms wine fridge  . (sorry that applies to myself only). Rule no 4 Pm wallaby for full rules and info.

rule 5 - keep away from my wine fridge altogether - I now have a challenging Ingersol padlock on the wine fridge, if anybody can pick that (without the 4ft yellow pick) , they can have a bottle of what is inside ...

rule 6 - keep away from my wifes car, together with pinky's wife you are taking on more than you can imagine ...
