Lock Designs

Postby Lock Jockey » 29 Mar 2006 18:11

Ever since I began picking I've been trying to think of how to make locks that would prevent certain attacks (and usually find out that my ideas wouldn't work).

Any way . . . I was wondering if there could be a lock where it isn't permanently connected to the deadbolt. Where the correct key would raise some arm to contact something else that then could pull the deadbolt from the wall. (If possible)It would make picking harder and drilling useless. Is there already some solution for this that I don't know about?

Give me your input on this. (Don't be too harsh on my not well though out design :) ) Also give your ideas on designs for locks.

How about a lever lock?

If there is a phisical key that fits the lock no matter how hard it may be to do or pull off every lock should be able to be picked.

There is also a few other threads on this subject, quite a large one on cylinder locks and one on mortice (lever) locks with glass relockers etc have a look around.

Check out the thread about making an "unpickable" lock. I forgot exactly where it is, but it is long and is certainly an interesting read.
