Curtain picks

Postby london_lad » 30 Mar 2006 14:29

I am a new locksmith and i'm intersted in purchasing a curtain pick. I have used the safe ventures version and it seems to be ok but I have heard it only works on 5 leaver union locks. Is there another curtain pick avalible which opens a wider variety of curtain locks ?
I also wondered how many different makes of mortice locks can you expect to open with a curtain pick ?

I would appeciate any help on this matter.

Thanks

curtain picks are covered in detail on site already, but here goes;

safe ventures pick
this is a beautifull tool to use, but is limited to certain locks like union bs and union security, old yellow legge and era with high lift levers.

RB tool
picks same range as safe ventures tool, without the comfort of use.

Chris belcher picks
these tools are in my opinion the most versatile and pick almost the entire range of curtain bs locks, limited only by the skill of the user.

Mark francis triple pick
this tool is proving to be a hit with many, i cant comment on ease of use as not tried it as yet, but is like the cb pick not restricted and will pick most common bs locks, again only limited by skill of user.

all suppliers above offer training in the use of their tolls.

Thanks for the info Pinky much appriciated. Quite like the sound of the chris belcher pick, could be the one for me. Any ideas as in the best website to look at in detail and purchase one of these picks ?

www.chrisbelcher.com

Sell for about £110, I think you buy them through Duffels. :)

There's an online order form on there.

You'll need more than one to cover all locks though - unless you use a drill to enlarge the curtain I guess.
