-Steve- And Jason go skip diving

Postby Jason13 » 30 Mar 2006 15:35

Hey me and -Steve- where just down the street and we saw this skip with like 10 doors but some of them just had a latch and not an actually lever lock.

One door the last screw was filed away from trying to get it of with are screw drivers so we just left it.

At the end of the day we got this Little black Lever lock containning 2 levers.
And two big silver lever locks with three levers.

They all contained a latch but i jsut took it out so i was left with the spacers, levers and plate to take of when i like.

Go skip diving you can get a good bargain

I'll have pictures ASAP

I wouldn't even go near some of the skips in my area.. some things are not not worth risking for the sake of locks. :?

Looks like you're going to have to make some lever picking wires

Way ahead of you illusion I already have some made and I think -Steve- does to.

We took 20 mins trying to get the screw driver cause it fell in the skip

Well worth the locks there was only wood and doors.

Get some string and tie one end in a loop, and just tie the other end around the screwdriver. When you put the screwdrive through the hoop on the other end you'll be left with a slipknot that will allow you to easily loosen it, and put it over your wrist.

Shrub has visions of jason running around in a duffel coat with a screwdriver on the end of a bit of string poking out of his right sleve and a fork hanging out the left sleve on the end of a piece of string

My first actual question

Postby dsdayl » 31 Mar 2006 1:07

I called a relation of mine who still lives in Ireland.

He said Skip diving is esentialy dumpster diving in the States. (digging throught the giant trash bins)

Is this correct?

Thanks

P.S. I can't believe my first question on this forum has nothing to do with locks.

Well a skip is one of those big metal things that hard waste gets put in like old beds etc, i think a dumpster is just a giant bin like we get at schools and office's but im not 100% if you lok for the pic of n2oah skip diving that he posted not so long ago that was what we call a skip.

Just as a side note, i dont know about the rules where jason and steve live but i guess its the same as us cosidering they group ireland with the mainland,

It is illegal to go skip diving and remove items to take home unless you have permission from the owner of the skip or the person renting it and filing it up, sure its rubbish and is being thrown out but technically jason and steve have stolen those locks!!

If the owner does so choose they can have them up on theft charges.

Can I ask a dumb American question...? :?:

What is Skip Diving?

I have never head of it, is this like searching through the dump or something?!?! Or... is it somewhat of a thrift shop with free stuff? Im so confused...

To me, it sounds like you stole some locks, but I really don't know what a skip is. I tried searching Google for 'Skip" and "Skip Diving". I mostly got scuba diving for the second one and nothing for the first. I think it mentioned something about sifting through someones 'junk'. Is that what it is?

And remember, the only dumb question is the one unasked... Right?

Thanks,

Ahhh, skip diving in Ireland. Did ye find any dead men in the skip laddie? Be sure to nick the belts if they've still got them on, I can get a pence for the buckles at the scrapyard!

I think a skip is one of those really large dumpsters that looks like they would fit on the back of an 18 wheeler. Just a huge steel box. I've seen them at construction sites.
