Yes similar principle to a safety deposit lock.

The 3rd edition of the Complete Book of Locks and Locksmithing has a nice section on these locks, and their use on lockers. They are between 5 and 7 levers.

It seems like a safety deposit box lock, but it could be a drawer or cabinet locks. Though i have seen deposit box locks that do not need a guard key.

You can get a tool from falle and i think lock defeat technology that can open these in seconds.

where I work in the British Military they are every where. lockers, desks filing cabinets.

If they lose the keys it's a case of phone a locksmith,
the system will pay.

And at the moment that is fine but in a couple of years I hope to be the guy that they call if you get what I mean.
