By proper picks I mean tools specifically crafted for picking locks eg. the picks made by Southord and street cleaner bristles grinded/filed down to resemble such tools eg. 45 degree half diamond; since buying a pick set this has worked for me fine, xcept for cases when a shallower half d was necessary for a bit mor accuracy on a pin that didnt need raising much to set.
Paper clips, as far as i'm concerned, suck totally and make a crap substitute. If you can make a paper clip work then well done, but i just couldnt give a paper clip enough respect to address it as a lock pick.lol
