speaking of handcuffs

Dose anyone have access or have those plastic hand cuff keys. I saw a hole box of them spilled on the road once and just gaze at them, pick up a couple and misplace them. Now I want them. This is the disposable plastic key some cop stores advertise them just in case of a citizen arrest and are put in there own cuffs. :x They do not go off on a metal detector, and you can where em under or in your belt or some place.

Why, might I ask, would you need to get plastic keys? Do you plan on getting in trouble? Having something concealable to pick them is one thing as this is a lock picking forum, but I believe your intentions as to the neccessity of a 'plastic key' are not clear.

Maybe you may want to clarify that.

Kinda like Zytel polymer knives. Who would need a plastic knife? Someone who wants to get past metal detectors....

Would ceramic knive pass through I wonder?

You could probably stick a small thing under you watch, or even in your hat if you wear one. If it goes through the scanners they'll likewly ignore it.

That's why belt buckle knives are popular. When scanned, the officer thinks it's the belt buckle. Training and attention to detail solves this problem.

Yeah a creamic blade could pass through. But, I'm with chrispy here.
Are you planning on trouble? Besides if you're in that predicament you're frisked or asked to empty your pockets anyway so your plan would be foiled and you WILL get more trouble coming your way. :wink:

I think modern metal detectors are set off by high density objects, so probably.

using structure

Postby raimundo » 3 Apr 2006 12:16

when the thread started, I explained that the idea was because I saw that people who are kidnapped in iraq are put in the plastic restraints.
My most recent thoughts on making something so small as to be easily carried in a boot or something, since the large nail clippers are too large to carry easily, think about what they are, two metal cutters and a large structure to hold them in place and apply pressure.
Now I am thinking that the knotblock of the plasticuff is a structure that could be used to hold and apply pressure to some small tool that goes into the block and fulcrums off it internally, with perhaps a small blade that cuts a portion of the cuffs flat band at each position so that it would not attempt to cut the whole thing in one stroke, but would nibble through the band, just behind the pawl. in that way, the cuff could be seriously weakened before it is apparent to the captors. cutting more than halfway through the band inside the block where the cut is not readily apparent. if both edges of the band were nibbled away, and the cuff was of the type with the metal pawl, it would be possible to just use that pawl for the final break. the concept here is to use the structure that is the cuff as most of the structure of the cutter. a tiny lever and cutting tool that could be carried in a ballpoint pen or a pack of chewing gum. a tool that only attacks a nibble at a time.
