Anyone got one of these kicking about.....?

Postby horsefeathers » 4 Apr 2006 14:06

A metal door - fire escape bar on inside, but this on the outside. Customer likes to lock the door when staff in so that people on the outside cant pull up the lever and open door (fire bar still works on inside of course even if locked)

Due to vandalism this is knackered and something has broken off inside so that it no longer locks and prevents lever being raised.

Just wondered if anyone has one kicking around they want to get rid of, or know where I can get one. It is not in the new Duffells or citysafe catalogues. It is of course made by Briton.

Please help!

If its like some of the other briton outside access devices they have a grub screw that shears off when someone tries to force the handle, this may be your problem. Contact briton direct they are very helpful and will send you fitting instructions etc by email so you know what to look for.

Shear genius mh - many thanks for that. How did you do it?

Toomush - thanks for help. It wasnt a grub screw that broke but the cast metal piece that is moved when the cylinder cam rotates.

I shall now advise the customer accordingly.

What a forum! :)

My pleasure :)

Just a little bit of http://www.google.com , seached for Briton, Briton Exit, "Outside Access", and so on. Came across some nice hardware I didn't know of before, so it was well worth it :)
