New ready made pick blanks??

Found a few packs of these in the kitchen draw



Size is 245mm long , 5mm wide x 2mm thick

They're quite strong and springy, as thick as a 2p and as wide as a junior hacksaw blade after you grind off the teeth

best of all CHEAP, 59p for 4 from wilko's (not sure about outside of the UK)

I'm going to have a go at making a bogota rake and some others tomorrow and I'll post the results.

Worst thing that could happen is I've found some tension rods

Not sure if it's wide enough. I find it easier just to stick with hacksaw blades or just buy some cheap southord picks that work great as well.

Bar-B-Q skewers (the wifes, or WAS) so I figured they should stand up to some heat aswel?

Oh and they aint flat, they're kinda D shaped and feel real nice to hold

They would work for lever picks perhaps, but I would stick with hacksaw blades for picks.

Not sure if skewers would work because you cant grind different shapes, etc.

OK I've hid the others back in the draw.

Metal was a little hard, it nearly killed my new bench grinder and destroyed a dremil cutoff wheel
