Brand codes

What I'm searching is a list of the different brand names and their codes. For example, If I want to make a copy of my Schlage key, It will probably be written on the key "SC1" on the copy, to indicate that the copy is a Schlage key. I'm pretty sure I saw it a while before, but after searching a lot, I didn't find it...

SC1 is a schlage key, but so is a SC2, SC3 and so on... pretty much anything starting with SC will be a Schlage. In fact I have a 6 pin Schlage that sports a SC9 key. That being said, I can rattle off a few key abbreviations for some of the more common north american locks:
KW - kwickset
WK - westlock
WR- weiser
MA- Master lock

It also depends on the blank manufacturer. Silca, Ilco, Orion, Mr Minit, etc. and those are only a couple of the top of my head, all have different codes for their blanks. This is where a key blank conversion guide comes in very handy.

The designations you're referring to are Ilco's EZ code system. It's the proprietary labeling system Ilco uses for its most popular blanks. (For their less-used blanks, you'll have to revert to their standard codes, which are longer.)

These will probably not be very useful to you. You can view them all if you flip through the Ilco catalogue, though.
