Master Cuff Lock - Lost my Key, but I have the Key #

Hi everyone,

I just recently lost my key for this:

But luckily i wrote down the key number when I first got it. Problem now is finding a place to get it. I checked the masterlock website and it told me to goto a locksmith. And i went to a couple and they don't offer such a service where I can recover my keys. I live in NYC. Does anyone know where I can go to purchase my key back. I can't use my bike since its locked to the tires and frame.... :cry:

Also as a side note... I saw some sale prices for eletric lock picks on southard.com I just got one myself since they were goin for $89...

Interesting.. Well i hoefully am taking it correctly that the lock is a tubular lock based one the picture, now i dont see why a lock smith wouldnt cut a key, and dont let them tell you that they need to actually see the lock and prov ethe bikes yours becuase then they get paid for a call, if you have the key combo no thief is going to actually get a keyt combo, also if you simply cant find any locksmith that will do this but a tubular lock pick from southord(the one with the rubber handle) and search the site on how to successfully open it, then you can take the decoder that comes with it buy a tubular blank maybe three or four then use a dremel and cut a key of your own. I still cant believe locksmiths dont do tubular keys.. good luck anyway though.

thanks... but i have the key number and I have no idea how i can get in contact with master lock to get this specific key made. I guess no one ever did this before.

ok i just called master lock and they said the key # that i have doesnt exsist in their system. So basically i am now screwed. I either have to cut the lock or pick it....

What can i used to cut these cuff locks?

Or what tubular pick can i use? I see 10 pins in the key hole. :cry:

Aren't those the locks that, if bypassed by any means and your property is lost, Masterlock reimburses you up to a couple grand?

Well buddy theres two things you can do here. There does excist a 10 pin tubular lock pick BUT! only a certified locksmith can purchase one and in my belief its gonna be very very very expensive, you can always try to single pin pick it.. do a search theres ways t do it. But i think your going to have to cut them off. I would honestly try every locksmith available but if theres none, then get a dremel or better an angle grinder and grind them off, you will be thre for months with a hacksaw. Soory to here its a ten, but if you can find a websit that sells them to the public go for it but i have yet to see it, i never wanted one just wanted to see what they look like i have seen one website that carries them and its for locksmiths only, looks like the angle grinder is going to be your friend here sorry for the loss of the lock, but if you have no choice you have no choice.

yea i think so... i bought these 2 years ago... wat a sad day it is.... i want to use my bike already.. its a nice sunny day in nyc.

wow... tats gonna take awhile isnt it.... I was thinking I could just drill the nuts at the end where the cuff swivels..

I would think if you did that the lock would still be in place. You'd just be able to take the arm off once you get it unlocked.

Or are you talking about something else?

Buy a tubular lock cutter if you want to open them destructively.

As for a thief not getting a keycode thats rubbish, a look at someones keys on a keychain or hook will get that i seconds.

The 10 pins are pickable, if you can pick the lock to a half rotation you can then impression it to make a make shift key.

A locksmith should be able to open the lock but obviously you will have to pay for that.

With an angle grinder? Obviously, you've never used one before. I could cut through those "street" cuffs in >30 seconds with one.

Good luck getting a key for that. Masterlock will NOT issue any additional keys for their Street Cuffs, and most locksmiths will have lots of trouble copying the key. In fact, only 1 locksmith out of 5 was able to succesfully copy my own Street Cuff key. Looks like you'll have to cut the lock and buy a new one. Sorry.
