What car does this lock belong to?

I have a long here that my granfather gave me. I know it is an Audi lock, but I was just wondering what year and model would have been fitted with the lock.

I am not asking how to pick it (already picked it), just curious where it came from, and if it is ignition or door lock.

By the way, sorry for the bad pictures, I have a relatively nice camera (Kodak 4.0MP), but no skills, no tripod and no light box.

What are the numbers/letters on the key and what are the numbers/letters on the lock?

The key has AH stamped on it.

The lock has:
443 905 855 A
VW (Audi Rings) HUF
Germany

Then around the other side of the lock is has 7200 and 4/84 stamped on it.

Its a common lock thats found on Audi and VW vehicles, i think the one you have may be a boot lock (trunk) it would be found on a lot of the model range from the vans to the cars and was/is common on cars from the 90's

personally i would say its an ignition lock the top half is identical to vag ignitions but the long cast attached to it i haven't seem but i'd say ignition lock

On the first picture, i can recognise several brand logos, to name a few: VolksWagen and Audi.

I agree, the black spring steel on the top is the lock retainer and the raised rib is for aligning the cyl in the housing. The long peice operates the stearing wheel lock and the ignition switch.

Then around the other side of the lock is has 7200 and 4/84 stamped on it.

That means it was made in the 4th month of 84.
It looks identical to my 86 VW golf cylinder dated 9/85 with the long stem off the back being the only difference.

My cam can't take a pic worth a squat or i'd post a pic of mine.

If i'm not mistaken they used those cylinders on 84 through 88 model years.
