Lever padlock

Or Stump even.

If your struggleing lifting the levers when your applieing tension then your useing too much, you should be able to feel some resistance and when the lever is set the tension wil click round a little bit.

I think ive got an old type of this lock somewhere, ill grind the top off and post you a pic so you cvan see whats inside, your lock will be very simular to it and may give you a better idea of what your doing.

Ok thanks I know what a genral lever lock looks like just not the padlock ones so I guess there no differnt but its always good to see what this one looks like or something like it anyway.

Well for you and the others that may be interested heres some pics, i dont think they need any more explanation than to just look at them.

Jason,If you are having a problem with a lock a picture of the internals tells a thousand words, you may think you know what a lever lock looks like but theres that many differant types they all have thier own charactoristics, dont look a gift horse in the mouth. Take advice and learn things, its not the case of you know what there like so there all the same, just look.

Cool thanks for pictures im still looking but one thing has me puzzled you know the stump why does the path for it go up when it needs to slide across the levers? its got me a bit puzzled.

Oh wait is that why the bit is rounded so when i tgoes up the stump slides then drops into the gap?

Its not, its where the stump has been pressed out.

For example some of the locks i got which are levers the stump slides across when the levers are all at the rite height.

So in this one because the bit is middle in like pointy and rounded of it doesn't slide across?

If you look at the bottom 2 pics of the bolt you can see it sliding across.

Yes the bolt and the stump are all one piece like nearly all lever locks.

How did you take the top plate of padlock is it something that cant be put back on?

I just ground the rivet heads off,

It can be put back on in a number of ways, you can re-rivet it or what i advise you do is to just remove the rivets and then use some 4mm bolts to fasten it back together in place of the rivets.

You shouldnt need to pull yours apart, it will be the same inside as the one above.

One of my picks for tension is a bike spoke and it has that ball thing on it i usally take it of but i tryed it and now its stuck in lock :evil:

its happened and i usally get it out but this one i cant!

Knobber, you was asking for that.

Youll have to shine a torch in the keyhole and try to see what its stuck on, i guess youve just jammed it, carefully but forcefully turn it back and if needbe pull it down a bit with some long nose pliers.

Its in tallon our levers i mite put the pick in vice and try pull the padlock away from it.

Maybe that would work?

I know where it is, useing the pics above youll have to pull it back out somehow or get the grinder out, with some turning and pulling it should come back out, youve got it in there so you should get it out unless the round bit is stuck in one of the lever gates.
