Paperclip Lock pick Guide! by Sams Choice

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

when you burn them to make them stronger do you heat it before or after you shape the pick?

Hey what is this refering to? just curious.

Sounds like some general rudeness brought through unfounded arrogance :?

Well, only saw this thread now. Really like the idea. I Some times I use paper clips tension wrenches. I'm looking forward to try all your picks posted on the tutorial. Nice effort sams choice

I actually "learned" to pick locks with paperclips and safety pins. I started by picking wafer locks, then went to pin tumblers. After opening a few master locks I was hooked. I have made many picks since from various things and have to say this:

After actually learning with paperclips, getting your hands on a "good" pick is kinda like getting out of a Chevette and getting in a Ferrari.

I think it actually helped make me a better picker!

seems cool

i cant see much wrong with it. i tried it and the shims work (sort of).

but yeah, it does sort of bring back memories of being a six yr old trying to shove a paperclip into a lock and expecting it to magicly open

Hey sams, the auto wrench is an X-ellent idea,in fact,i use it too,but to add grip, around the part where you hold it with your fingers,i added white heat-shrink tubing.Looks great and works even better! :) if it wasnt for you,i wouldnt have a wrench.

tried it, works

I had never tried paperclips because of all the advice against it. But always wondered if they might serve in a pinch 'cause there's always a paperclip around here somewhere. After reading this forum I decided to make a paperclip hook and tensioner to stash outside my door. Seems a lot safer than a spare key. Anyway they work just fine although, truth be told, it's a really easy lock to open and requires very little force to turn. Small town, don't care.
Nothing is so embarrassing as watching someone do something that you said couldn't be done.

Wow lots of critisism. I think that's totally sweet, good job man, I've used paper clips my self and they work well, tools are for prissy people, not that I dont' use them, but , you gotta be resourceful, i've opened locks with paper clips a lot, this was a good guide, I mean you're not going to have your tools or a dremel to make them. And why the hell wouldn't that work on an auto lock, there are stronger pieces of wire than paper clips, this was a good stencil for that, I use Metal banding wire used for paper bails, it's stronger and can have the same concept applied to it, just gotta open your mind and be resource ful, YOU CAN PICK LOCKS WITH PAPER CLIPS.
someone love me!
