How is this done?

Quote from auction: "these cylinders are great for when the owner of a store wants his employees to be able to lock the store when leaving, but not be able to re enter."

This is new to me, and I'm wondering how it's done?

That's pretty crazy. Come to think of it the bathroom at the Coffee Shop I frequent has something like that... I remember staring at the key like wow... that would be a pain to pick. Same keyway and everything. I wanna say the key looks like it had 7 pins. Their bathroom door has a better lock on it than their building

NM the ones in that pic have 5. Up at the front of the shoulder of the key, It has a wierd cresent thing that the other key lacks. I take it there is some funky piece of wire that locks it out of turning the other way.

The usual way to do this is to remove the barrel, and mill a groove (one pin wide) starting from the hole for one pin, and going halfway round the circumference of the barrel. The depth is say one key cut spacing. Then you just cut the employee key one cut lower on that pin.

Ive only ever done it once before but used a miller to do the cut and was a lot more presise, i wish i knew it could be done so roughly.

Ps dont follow this example in the holding of the plug, he wont have his fingers long if he keeps doing things like that.

Yeah... when I made my padlock cut away I started off by holding it with my hand, and after a minute realised how stupid this was. Lucky I didn't slip, or I'd be the next Franky 'Four Fingers' :P

Through somthing stupid i did on a lathe during my apprenticeship ive had to have my finger sewn back on so i can speak from experiance that it hurts somewhat.

The grousome bit for those that are interested,

I was useing a screwdriver to pull a load of stainless steel swarlf aay from the lathe whilst cleaning it up.

I was looping the driver around the swarlf and pulling it out the machine, a loop of it went around one of my fingers and as i yanked it up the skin right down to the bone from the mid knuckle to the tip cam off with it, i was loking at a skeleton finger for a split second before the pain and realisation set in then the blood oh boy was there some blood lol.

Ouch... :?

I'd imagine if the machine that cut an organ off was hot enough it could cauterise the wound, right?
