maybe someone could guide me a little bit...
this is what ive picked up on so far from masterlock padlocks

no.1 padlocks are the highest security? i can still pick it in a jiff but it seems like the cylinder comes out about 1/4 inch when your raking out of the keyway which disrupts the pins from dropping. is the only security feature? is this even a security feature? i just noticed that if the cylinder moved outward a little bit that id have to reset my tension and start over. now, i just hold the cylinder down with my thumb and caress the pins like theyre women and pop it opens.
could someone tell me more information on the different types of masterlock padlocks?
i have also seen a no.3, which was very easy to pick.
but id really like to know the difference in the "no.#" part
which is the hardest and which is the easiest?
sorry if i bore you

Number 1 padlocks are far from high security from the Master line.
Here is a brief rundown of the Laminated Padlock line, as best as I can remember.

#1-8 4 pins, no security pins
#9, 10 Warded padlock
#11- 4pins, no security pins, Key retaining
#12 Warded padlock, solid brass though.
#15, #17, - 5 pin, no security pins
#21 4 pin, rekeyable
#22 Warded padlock
#24 5 pin, brass
#25, 27 5 pin, steel body, I beleive the 25 is the same as the 24, except in steel

There are some more locks in the 30's but Id have to look them up.
If you see UP after the number, these locks are "keyed" at hardware stores, etc. You just bring in a key, they insert it into the lock, then smack it with a special punch, and there you go, keyed.

ok i didn't want 2 make new post cuz of the clutter bsides this is a good post to ask in.
i've read somewhere here that sum1 bought a #6 because of the smaller keyway and i'm pretty sure the #7 (which im currently trying to pick) is about the same. what kind of pick should i use?

and i've done my searching the hardway and timeconsumingway (since the search button is broken) but i cant seem to find why pin tumblers are so special. can some1 xplain please?

The pin tumbler lock is a lock mechanism that utilizes a group of pins of varying lengths to prevent opening the lock without the correct key.

This link should help a bit..
