What, perchance, do we think of these?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

What, perchance, do we think of these?

I just got an E-mail from Peterson International. He is promoting a new line of picks that is more portable than his government set. It includes about ten pieces, and is priced at 115$

Here is the URL, though you may need a password to enter this part of the site.

Give it a gander. I was only impressed by the price though admittedly those pearl pink picks would make me feel pretty.

Doesn't impress me much, i'd rather drop 40 bucks (is that how much it is these days) on petersons standard set.

"DCAP-3 low shank profile picks"

YES!!! I need these! (but only these -- I have standard Peterson picks but for some tight keyways the tapered shank is too high and once I get a tension tool in there is not much room to pick -- see my other post re: HPC PIP 2000 picks).

I understand that the price of steel has gone up, but $115??? wow.... That's too bad too, 'cause overall I like his tools.

pink, eh, do they have glow in the dark, or with ticklers?

Glow in the dark... i guess the more subtle thieves would love those, for never losing their picks and get caught on "evidence". 8)

Then again, be all in black and have a faint glowing bar in your hand while opening locks in the dark of the night.... (HELLO WORLD!)

Got to love stealth...

On a positive note, the price of his just picks sets seems to have gone back down. He's also added two new picks, a steep curve and a half snowman.

The DCAP picks are nice indeed and they will be my next purchase. They are high priced yes, but you can exert alot more force on sticky pins with these picks than you can with say the LAB picks or the Falle Safes.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
