Schlage B Series Entrance Lock

I replaced one of these today because it was 'non serviceable', the tenant had no keys for it, and you need a key to turn the tailpiece to release the active retainer to remove the outer knob and rekey it.

The newer entrance sets can be taken apart through the back if there are no keys available.

Anyone found a way to disassemble this lock and remove the cylinder without damaging anything? (from what I understand they're expensive).

I haven't even tried yet (to be honest). I'll try picking it, I'm still interested to know if it can disassembled through the cylindrical housing as an alternative if I'm unsuccessful. Any help?

Pick and turn 1/4 rotation, depress retainer on the shaft on the latch side and pull the knob off is the standard meathod.
Maybe I'm out of date but I thought "B" series was a deadbolt, "A" and "D" are knobsets. Anyway remove the cotterpins from the inside of the lock body, the "A" series will pull straight away, "D" series will slide before the hub and cap will pull away from the body. Remove the slider and springs, then remove the key spindle from the inside of the outside knob spindle. Now you should be able to see the back of the lock cylinder, look for the cylinder cap pin sitting in on of the notches of the cylinder cap. Depress the pin and unscrew the cap, now depress the knob retainer and remove the knob and cylinder. You can replace the cylinder if you have one keyed or just take it to a local lockie.

My mistake! It's a Schlage A (residential) series key in knob entrance lock. And the cylinder comes out through the back like a TL-80. Exactly like Maxxed said. Thanks (I was gonna junk this one, but it's kinda perty).
