Let me be the first to say wow, those look great! One thing I'll ad, just incase you haven't done it yet, is go over the ends of the picks with wet & dry paper, it'll make em nice and shiny, and make them glide extremely smooth over the pins, it's like magic.

Keep up the good work!

Also, where did you get the spring steel, and did it come in strips, or did you cut it into the strips?

answering for atrix:

yes, that is indeed a drain snake! I've heard they are very good for pick material, but have never tried it myself.

dimple pin pick

Postby raimundo » 22 May 2006 8:44

I see that I am not the only one who makes the dimple pin pick that looks like a hook with a twist and bevel to get under the pin and pull it up on the bevel.

Looks like heat shrink tubing to me, you can get it in a variety of colors for those who wish to colour co-ordinate their picks and thier wardrobe! -

TO the orginal post author - thanks for the idea - I have people keeping their eye out for drain snakes that are flat - most of the ones I have seen are cylindrical - After reading this post I went to the "Dollar" store (everything for 1$) to see what they had - only cylinders. Questions: Does the material need to be thinned out? Is it hard to cut?

hi all :D
for handles i use this:
http://www.brownbear.ru/upload/1_111961 ... brik-b.jpg
on Russian this is called kembrik , on English it seems shrink tubing :D

the thickness of strip is 0.8 mm , to decrease the thickness is unnecessary
it is good to cut material by the small needle files
I use only needle file and emery paper for make picks, this good because material not is heated and it does not lose its property
