My ugly wonder

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

This i made with just a bobby pin. The handle is excellent and easy, just snap the head off a toothbrush and heat the reverse end of the pick. then just melt the pick into the plastic. Quick, easy, nice feedback on pins, my fave.

drill

Postby raimundo » 17 May 2006 9:20

if you have jewelers drills, you can drill the plastic handle, this helps get the metal deeper into the handle, and you will have less metal that has had its temper hardened on the outside of the plastic. drill, a hole that is almost a fit, then push the hot metal into it.

Would it work better/be more comfortable with the hook the other way around ?

Just thinking for on the door, knelt down ?

Like the look of it though, do you do a range of colours ?

It's all about the tension . . .

The Hook

Postby soprano boy » 18 May 2006 8:15

Well G, yeah it certainly would, and I do have some more suited to door locks, but this is basically the one i use for chunky padlocks, which are my favorites.

Torque wrench made of dental floss, I'll work on it.

Ryan, the dental pick, i like it!

dental floss

Postby raimundo » 18 May 2006 9:17

If you can get a few turns of dental floss around the circumfrance of the plug behind the antishim flange, tighten it and you have probably a good tensor, you would just tie both ends to a small stick, and be able to put rotary force on it just like using a bow to spin a stick to make a friction fire. yes, dental floss could make a tensor, but you might want to look at stronger material so that a thinner piece could be used to slip into the small tolerances, silk perhaps.

Grr it was ok but got burned in the making

i got a better idea which wont burn you and it only takes same amount of time to make.

First get a wiper blade insert make the head and make it a Hook or whatever you want.

Then get a bronze pipe the size required is about 1cm in width and in lenth your choice.

Place the Pipe in vice and before pressing the pipe inwards place the pick head in.

Then use vice to make it flat, and after just give it a few taps with the hammer. Im making one tomorrow so i'll show you.

No edit button!

what i forgot to add is I think the Bobby pin and toothbrush handle was ok and pretty cool.

But the handle was plastic and heated up and some point meaning it would be weak after a sertin amount of use.

On the other hand Pipe or even curled of sheets of metal would be good cause its strong and after the amount of hammering it would make ti stick well and strong!

Iv'e made one and i have to say There way better than southord.

But hey this is just my opinion.
