Newbie here.... been reading the site - outstanding site you have here too! Have a set of basic picks, making some of my own as well (Band Saw blades work real well for them). Have read the MIT guide, Matt Blaze information and have opened some locks now. Have re-pinned 6 locks to practice on, have opened Master Combo locks as well with various information sources. Have made some shims and am working with those a bit just to see what they work on or not (I read about how to make them here and intend to list the locks they work on or not that I have on hand). The pick-making video - top notch job though I had made some of my own before I saw it (sorry, don't rememeber the name of the man right now but give you full credit for great instruction). Just registered and look forward to learning a lot more here. Been reading the page for a couple weeks now - lots to explore.

By way of intro - I used to be a welder, so use of hand / power tools is familar to me. Work with computers too but had no training in either area before getting a job in the field. Got interested in picking locks due to adults locking their kids in the car with the keys in the car with the kid (and engine running sometimes). So, I'm glad I found the site here, am glad you have such a good site and am glad to find others willing to share information as well. If I ever have anything to offer, I will definitely contribute.

hey ya'll. Lock picking is something to me of a game/challenge. I am not looking to make a career out of it, but it is someting that take inginuity to be able to overcome. And that is what I love

New here. I just got online with lockpicking forums and such. Been picking and fiddling with locks since I was 14. I'm in College Station Texas. Hopefully there is a houston group or something. I hope to meet up with some other pickers.

Hello to everyone. I work in the second hand industry and came across a Rytan Lock Pick set a few months back. I tried to sell it to some of the local locksmiths but none had any use for it. I finally decided to bring it home and give it a whirl. So far I've had no luck picking anything but my nose. I've tried both of my Sentry safes and my back door. I finally got frustrated and decided to see what there was online, and I found this site. I've been reading through a few threads and decided to sign up. I hope to be able to learn how to pick locks soon. Any sugestions on what kind of lock and what kind of tool to start with? Thanks in advance for the responses.

Just starting out...I've been lurking for awhile...reading everything I could. I bought the recommended starter kit from lockpickshop.com and have been practicing. I can pick a Master Lock no. 1, no. 3 and no. 5 within a minute. Just trying to get the feel.
